INTERIOR / EXTERIOR LED CONVERSION BUYERS GUIDE
This guide is designed to help with the variations of globe types found throughout a vehicle's interior & exterior. To find suitable LED globes for your vehicle, we suggest the below link to our vehicle selector. If you have already drilled through and the information was not available, continue through this blog and we can help you identify the different globe types.
WEDGE TYPE GLOBES
The wedge type globes are definitely, from our experience anyway, the most common globe found throughout the majority of vehicles. Below is a brief run through the differences in size, function, and compatibility.
T5 LED GLOBES
The T5 is the smallest of the bunch, commonly found in dash clusters and ashtrays. T5 globes are only fitted with a single LED due to their small size and generally limited by the required application leaving almost no room to increase in size over a halogen bulb.
CROSS REFERENCE (T5)
3.4w, 286, w2.3w, PC74, 12516
T10/T15 LED GLOBES
One of the most common globes found around the vehicle whether it be interior or exterior. The T10 also suits T15 sockets as they use the exact same connector with the difference being the physical head size.
CROSS REFERENCE (T10/T15)
147, 152, 158, 159, 161, 168, 184, 192, 193, 194, 259, 280, 285, 447, 464, 501, 555, 558, 585, 906, 912, T12, T13, T15, W3W, W5W, W10W, W16W

T20 LED GLOBES
In the case of T20 globes, they can be found in two different filament types. 7440 which is a single filament generally used for parkers and reverse lights. Alternatively, the 7443 dual filament has a full and half brightness mode meaning applications such as taillights that also second as a brake light in one housing are possible.
Due to the locations of the pins, the 7443 (dual filament) is compatible with both 7440 & 7443 sockets whereas the 7440 (single filament) will only suit 7440 sockets.
CROSS REFERENCE (T20)
7440: W21W
7443: 3057, 3157, 3457, 4057, 4114, 4157, P27/7W, W21/5W
NOTE: We only offer the T20 Dual (7443) as it is suitable for both fittings.
BAYONET TYPE GLOBES
Bayonet style globes (excluding the BA9s) are similar in the sense of function as compared to T20, a single and dual function. The difference however is that the fitment is in no way cross compatible as the locating pins between the different styles are generally offset from model to model.
BA9S LED GLOBES
With an application list as broad as the T10 but found not quite as often, BA9s globes are generally found in parkers, map/dome, courtesy, trunk, vanity, and many more.
